Senior Outreach/Sales Representative

New York Road Runners seeks a highly skilled individual in the Senior Outreach/Sales Representative position to increase adoption rates of NYRR’s free youth running programs by driving pipeline growth, closing business, managing sales support tools, and working closely with the program and marketing teams. This opening is based in New York City covering the NYC school system and other city-wide organizations. 

Responsibilities: 

Outreach/Sales Strategy:

  • Develop and execute selling techniques that enhance the ability to effectively promote NYRR youth running programs and reach annual targets
  • Send media/literature to prospective adopters in the territory while tracking outreach opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with and assist marketing, program on-boarding, and program development teams as requested by appropriate personnel
  • Provide feedback on market trends, market reaction to our programs, as well as competitors
  • Actively schedule and participate in professional conferences and group meetings

Client relations:

  • Pre-plan daily schedule of sales calls/visits to promote and educate potential users on NYRR youth programs and convert them to NYRR youth program sites
  • Travel regularly within the assigned territory for the purpose of conducting one-on-one or group outreach meetings with administrations, directors, teachers, and/or with appropriate personnel
  • Develop ongoing itineraries to increase program adoption within the assigned territory
  • Service customers within the assigned territory by both responding promptly to requests and by initiating customer service

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the support of a contracted inside telesales team during contract period
  • Directly manage Senior Representative conducting school assemblies

Operations:

  • Submit required data and reports on a timely basis
  • Communicate with direct supervisor and with other appropriate NYRR personnel
  • Create budget and monitor operational expenses within your territory

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience
  • Direct sales experience and sales aptitude
  • Demonstrated experience selling products into school districts, preferably the NYC school system
  • Proven success in reaching or exceeding sales targets
     
Requirements: 
  • High initiative and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a self-starting environment
  • A knowledge of and/or an interest in working in a fitness and youth services environment
  • Proficiency with computers and basic applications software
  • Ability to travel overnight
  • Valid drivers license
  • Heart, humor and an appreciation for the value of running/physical fitness
